A great time was had by all who attended our State Conference. Chi-Chi Okobee was well represented by Society President, Ellie LaCombe.
There was time for recreation where we attended the Tampa Zoo. She was the Personal Paige for the N.S.C.A.R. National President.
We had a wonderful time attending the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa.
After Saturday's festivities we danced the night away!
Hope to see you there next year!
This year we prepared boxes to ship to our troops who are on active duty overseas.
We included such items as personal toiletries, candy, coffee and letters from school kids here at home.
It was our goal to remind them that we remember and care for them.
State Conference Update
The second Saturday in December, members of ChiChi-Okobee Society again join the Saramana Chapter SAR at the National Cemetery in Sarasota, to place wreaths on the headstones of our nation's fallen heroes.
The Wreaths Across America story began over fifteen years ago when Morrill and Karen Worcester of the Worcester Wreath Company from Harrington, Maine began a tradition of placing wreaths on headstones in Arlington National Cemetery during the holidays.
Subsequently, Morrill Worcester was awarded the Gold Good Citizenship Medal by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution for his patriotic service.
The mission of Wreaths Across America is to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach our children the value of freedom.
